I made business cards, because I’ve registered Maybe Someday at the Chamber of Commerce about a month ago. I decided to start selling some webhosting and domains and things like that again. Also, it makes it easier (read: cheaper) to work on e-projects and such.. Plus… it’s just fun!

I still need to figure out how to move this blog to a subfolder… don’t want anyone stumbling upon this place.

I can pick up my diploma Friday the 10th. There will be a ceremony and family and friends are invited.

Too bad my family is in Hungary and my best friend banned me from his life.

Gah.

I know I sound pathetic and I know I have no reason to complain. I have loads of great friends (the best even!) and I’m sure I won’t be alone when I receive my diploma. But I’m unable to share this pretty big thing for me with my best friends in life: my sister and Niels. She can’t and he won’t. And that hurts.

I just can’t help but feel a little bit lonely sometimes. I try not to, but it just happens.

Only sometimes.

I was reading back at what I posted about Lowlands last year. And dear me.. I started my pre-LL post with the exact same words!! How weird (and kind of pathetic) is that?!

That’s just sad…

Or it just means that time flies…

You pick.

It’s because of … I think … No.

It’s impossible! You have to experience it!

Everybody who has ever been to Lowlands will probably tell you they had the best time. But why? Is it because of the friendly people? Is it because of the crazy people? Is it because of the music? Is it because of the colourful surroundings? Is it because everybody is looking for Theo all the time? Is it because  of all the lima plants being carried around? Is it because of the sound waves on the campings? Is it because of the wake-me-up-coffee-people? Is it because of the yellow trash bags that are also poncho’s? Is it because of the Grolsch “beugelbar”? Is it because of the waiting lines (lining up for the toilets.. lining up for drinks, lining up for food, lining up to get to the festival area, lining up  to leave the place)? Is it because I could go on and on and on and on?

I don’t think anyone can tell you why. So just go.. and experience it. And you’ll know why. You probably won’t be able to explain it.. but you’ll know.

Safe to say. I had fun! There weren’t as many bands I wanted to see as last year, but it was kind of nice to be able to relax a little more and to just go with the flow.

Next Thursday it’s time to leave civil life for a campingflight to lowlands paradise and enjoy 4 days of loads of music, loads of noise, loads of dirt, loads of nasty toilets, loads of drinks and no sleep at all. Can’t wait! :p

I tried to figure out which bands I want to see, but it’s impossible to make a selection. I made a quick scan and highlighted the ones I think I want to see, but as you can see it will be impossible to see them all. I do know I’ll be walking around a lot again.

On a more domestic note. I “organized” a poker evening for my friends this weekend. With organized I mean that I invited them and then let my friend, who works at Holland Casino, take over for the rest of the evening . It was a lot of fun and I do believe everyone had a great time. I also enjoyed preparing the snacks for the evening. I’m not very good at cooking, but sometimes I like to pretend I am. So I made crostini’s. They were yummie! After nearly burning my eyebrows off while getting the crostini’s out of the oven I made three kinds of toppings.

One with grilled tomato, mozarella and anchovy  (what a weird combo – but very yummie!)

one with grilled leek and pancetta

and one with grilled paprika and saffron mayonaise.

I was supposed to also make one with grilled nectarine and prosciutto, but I forgot .

The Cinematics – Maybe someday

A piece of film – each second you watch contains 24 images

Times are changing though and soon every cinema will be using digital film. Our cinema will too be moving on to digital projection within a year. Digital projection is still not a disc. It’s actually a big hard drive that makes a connection through satellite to receive the data necessary to play the movie. I don’t know how it works exactly since I haven’t worked with it yet, but it should be pretty interesting.

We still work with real film though. And working with film is part of why I love my job so much. Operating film is still a big part of my job and even though it can get a little boring sometimes I still love working with film.

It’s a weird thought that in not too many years from now nobody will be using this technology anymore. It will be a thing of the past and people will laugh and frown when they see how it worked “back then”.

I think using real film gives a little bit of character to the movie. Digital projection is like watching a DVD.. the colors are flat, there is no life in it, it feels cold.

But it is revolution. And the quality is better. And working with it is easier. So I guess it’s improvement. I’ll just be enjoying working with real film that much more the next couple of months. While I still can .

A couple of weeks ago I made some vids while putting a film together. So if you have no idea what an actual film looks like: check it out! (Sorry about the weird aspect ratio – it’s because I used my iphone and because I’m an idiot.)

Also – this might be kind of boring for everyone else but me.

I despise my phone now. Despise! It’s useless. I can’t update my blog from my phone.. I can’t download my series from my phone. I can’t watch surfthechannel.com on my phone. I can’t do freakin’ anything on my phone!!!

So, after three months of frustration I finally took the sensible route and I ordered a new internet subscription. I made some dumb choices in my life.. giving up internet is on the top of that list. You need it for everything! I couldn’t even transfer some money without dragging my laptop to my parents/my work/the public library first. I don’t know how people survived 15 years ago when internet was non-existent. It’s kind of scary how it’s such a big part of our every day life now.

Anyway.. I’m glad to be back on my laptop in my bed, without having to hold my laptop in the air by the window to maybe catch that wifi from 2 blocks over that I sometimes got to use for 1 minute before it disappeared again.

Because of the lack of internet I haven’t even posted that our cinema won with the Murphy in his sunglasses competition! Look how cute our Marmaduke stuffed animal is!

He looks even cooler with his huge sunglasses on, but those already got stolen .

I still think Murphy looks cooler though .

It’s been a while since I picked up the guitar. Mainly because I was so busy stressing out about school. But, school is over now. WOOHOOOO!!!! (still can’t believe it!)

So.. there’s time for fun stuff again. Fun stuff of course also including learning some guitar again. I still can’t play Let it Be from the last time very well. Although I do know how to play the whole melody now (but that’s no fun!). I started practicing Wonderwall from Oasis today. It’s such a fun little part to play! Thanks to Joris for telling me it’s easy and fun!
