Pff
I was planning to write about Murphy who is the funniest dog ever. Butttt, I’m exhausted! But it’s so funny that I’ll force myself to write, heh. So.. Murphy, I should tell you, is allergic to water! He tip toe’s around every puddle and definitely does not go anywhere near streaming water.
Until today.
Lol. Even thinking about it makes me giggle. Here’s what happened. I was at my parents house enjoying the sun in their garden. They happen to have a pool. So.. I’m watching Murphy who is having a hard time finding some shade. So he’s huffing and puffing from one corner of the garden to another. Until he finally slowly walks to the pool.. steps on the border around it. Before I can even try to imagine what he’s about to do he slowly steps ‘onto’ the water with his front paws. I swear, it went down in slow motion. He thought he could walk on it i guess (it did have a plastic cover on it) so he just carefully wanted to try standing on it but of course he toppled right over into the water. Hihi, of course he didn’t know how to swim so he’s splashing like an idiot to keep his head above water. Finally makes it to the side and lets me help him get on dry land again.
You should have seen his face when he was safely standing on the ground again! First he looked at me with a big question mark on his face as if he was asking me if I knew ‘what the f just happened’, then he looked at the water and at his body as if he only just started to register that this weird experience caused him to be wet.
I wonder if he liked it or is now even more scared of a watery surface. That would be too bad, but even then this experience was totally worth it. I never laughed so hard!
I’ll post soon about my photography workshop I had yesterday. I made some ok pics and a lot of horrible ones. When I got home I tried to make some of Murphy too. I messed up the lighting on the second pic, but his face is so funny I wanted to post it anyway

Erykah Badu
I bought Erykah Badu’s new album recently and I don’t like it AT ALL!
I love her old stuff, but this album is more funk and less soul. It’s kind of an experimental album I guess as it’s not very commercial at all. But I find it very hard to listen to (some songs anyway).
I’m thinking of still going to her concert.. she’s coming to Paradiso in July. I don’t know though..
The album cover is ridiculously cool though.

Slam!
I finished the book Slam yesterday. Slam? you ask. Yes, Slam. I know I wasn’t reading that one, but I left the Safran Foer book at my parents place and I was too lazy to pick it up and read so I started another one. I know, I’m a chaotic reader person.
Anyway. I liked it! It’s about a topic that I do not like at all: teenage pregnancy. But Nick Hornby is such a funny writer that the topic really doesn’t matter. Although a good topic does help, cause even though I enjoyed this book it doesn’t compare to A Long Way Down, also by Nick Hornby.
I found out Nick Hornby has a blog (who doesn’t nowadays) and found out that there have been thoughts about making a film of A Long Way Down (that would rock!), but that’s it’s not likely to happen (bummer).
Anywayzzz, if you are someone who enjoys the funny you should check his books out. Or go to his blog at http://nickhornby.campaignserver.co.uk/
Ave Maria
I don’t understand anything about the Catholic religion, but I happily listen to any prayer if it’s sung by Kelly Clarkson:
Tiki!
Some friends and me had some watery fun at the Dutch themepark Duinrell last week. The main attraction of the park is the pool with LOTS of .. what’s the word? … water-rides? You know the drill.. these things:

It’s really very fun!
After going down rides for a while we got sick of it and went to our Duingalow where we had fun with scrabble and beer
. Cue the fun pics:
My friend Renee and moi (we were scrabble team 2)
Me thirsty:

My ‘normal’ face:

I have absolutely no explanation for this picture:

Kissing? Ew!

Mirella and me had the fun task of doing the dishes :S:

And as to be expected the fun ended when the dishes begun, so that’s it for today
New job
After 2,5 years I decided to stop working at the cinema. Mainly because I want to move forward to a fulltime job and partly because the fun at work is slowly starting to fade.
I’m starting my new job tomorrow. It’s a Customer Service Desk job.. which basically means I’ll be a receptionist. It’s at a really cool company though, it’s an advertising agency and print company: PrintWebMedia.com.
The idea is that I will work my way up to ‘office manager’ in time. We’ll see how that goes. I’ll start with my first day tomorrow. I’ll begin working 3 days a week as I still have to fill my hours at the cinema. I’ve ended my contract at the cinema per June 1st. I’ll probably start working 4 days a week at Print Web after that, until I finish school and then I’ll add another day to it probably.
Anywayzzzz, I’m looking forward to it!! Although I’m going to miss my job at the cinema soooo much!!!!
My 3 favorite things
I’ve decided I should have a regular topic on this ‘blog’ (I still hate that word) and the only thing I could think of that I do regularly is watch movies, read books and listen to music. As i’m an addict and a want-it-all person I tend to buy way too much of everything so I’m gonna list that here from now on. Maybe I will scare myself by how much I buy and tone down a little. Or maybe that’s just wishful thinking.
Here’s what I bought so far this month:
DVD’s
Earth
Heroes Season 1
Planet Terror
Interview (US version)
AC/DC Family Jewels (music dvd)
CD’s
Erykah Badu – Baduizm
U2 – The best if 1980-1990
U2 – The best of 1990-2000
Books
Slam – Nick Hornby
Pride & Prejudice – Jane Austen
Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close – Jonathan Safran Foer
Garden of Eden – Ernest Hemingway
The Glass Castle – Jeannette Walls
Apples – Richard Milward
I’m not sure if I can remember what I watched/read. I haven’t been reading a whole lot lately to be honest. I gave away The Glass Castle, but I’ve read the Dutch version ages ago. I’m reading Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close right now. I’m also halfway through Marley and Me by John Grogan, but I’m not liking it very much so I doubt if I will finish it. Another book I haven’t finished yet is White Oleander by Janet Fitch. I actually really like that book, but somehow I stopped reading a while back and haven’t picked it up since.
Ok, so.. what did I watch? I’ve been to the cinema a couple of times this month:
Zomerhitte
It’s a Dutch movie that I do not recommend. It’s based on a Dutch book. It’s supposed to be a romantic thriller I believe, but it’s mainly just boring.
12 Angry Men
That’s right.. that’s a black and white movie from 1957! We have an arthouse movie playing here every monday and they usually show some pretty good ones. This one was really good as well. It’s basically 1,5 hour of 12 men discussing a murder case. You’d think it would get boring, but it wasn’t boring at all. I really liked it.
Definitely, Maybe
I saw this one in the privacy of a closed cinema (that’s how much fun working at the cinema can be). It’s just a fun romcom. Nothing special. It gets a bit slow in the last half an hour, but I still enjoyed it. My friends loved it a whole lot less.
The Bucket List
I didn’t love this one. I think pretty much anything with Jack Nicholson in it is good, but even though I wasn’t totally bored I didn’t really get into this one either. It’s a bit of a cliche movie. Not my cup of tea.
I’m trying to remember if I watched any movies at home this month. O yeah I did!
Step Up
Who doesn’t love this movie? I’ve already seen it a gazillion times and it’s still fun. Although I do fastforward the boring parts (all the parts where there’s no dancing) when I watch it now though. I can’t wait ’till Step Up 2 is available on DVD
.
John Tucker Must Die
It’s kind of a guilty pleasure, but I really like this movie. It’s just so much fun! Plus, John Tucker (the gardner from Desperate Housewives aka Jesse Metcalfe) is h.o.t.!
It’s kind of hard to keep track of what I listen to. Usually last.fm does that for me, but since my internet at home has been dead for almost a week my last.fm chart is slowly dying. But hopefully my internet will work again soon. Pleassse!!!
Rockin’ it with Kelly
I went to Kelly Clarkson’s concert in Amsterdam’s Heineken Music Hall last week (April 6th) and I, lucky as I am, won a meet & greet with KC.
It was a fun experience. Half an hour before the support act started me and about 10 other people got taken backstage. We had to stand in a neat little row before Miss Clarkson came out and we each got our turn talking to her.
Even though I thought the rules and everything were a bit ridiculous, she’s actually really nice.. very friendly and fun. My convo with her was realllllly short as I forgot I could actually ask her things. I just gave her a book.. I did ask her if she likes to read before I gave it and she looked at me weird as if it was a stupid question, ghe. Before that it was even more awkward actually. Cause when I walked up to her she wanted to give me a hug and I think I looked as if I din’t want one or something cause she just stood there with her arms mid air with an uncertain look in her eyes. So the only thing I could do was grab her :p lol.
She said she’d heard of the book, but hadn’t read it yet. I gave her The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls.
Then we took our pic and I left. I did remember to tell her to ‘have fun tonight’ and then it was the next person’s turn to embarrass her with useless gifts and awkward conversation.
Oh, btw, she’s not that small! Everbody on that M&G was talking about how tiny she is, but if you look at the pic.. I’m not that much taller!! I am slouching a bit though (hate that), but yeah she’s a bit small but she’s no Kylie Minoque or something.
Felices cumpleaños hermana!
Or in a language we all understand ‘Happy birthday sis!’ It’s no fun celebrating it here without you. You better be here to celebrate mine in June!! *hugz*

Introducing Murphy
Murphy is my superdog. I got him as a cute little puppy on Valentines day in 2006 and we’ve been best pals ever since.
