fair trade

I traded my camera today. I got the Nikon s600 after all (that’s the one I wanted but thought was too ugly). I had bad dreams about the other and the blue just didn’t feel right. Plus as it turns out.. they totally fooled me in the shop! They told me the ixus 82 was definitely much better than the the ixus 80, hence the bigger price. According to Canon however the only difference between the 80 and 82 is the COLOUR!!! Can you believe that? Stupid store. They charged me 20 euros more so I’d have a colour I didn’t like! Grrr.

Anyway.. the s600 looks like this.

I know.. it’s not ugly. The only thing that I find ugly is the lenscao, which is an ugly cheap looking plastic.

I’m still having doubts if I made the right choice though. This one does feel much more like a real camera (the other one felt like a toy) but I’m not sure if it makes the best photos yet. If it doesn’t I’m just gonna trade it again tomorrow. They’ll love me at that shop.

We have the coolest standee at our cinema right now. Wall-E!!

O yah, I found out I mistakenly turned on date info :s. The next pic would be uber cool if it wasn’t for the stupid date ruining it (and the crack through his yackedee).

blue?! really??

I finally bought a compact camera. After much debating I decided on the Canon Ixus 80 IS. But then I arrived at the shop and somehow ended up with an Ixus 82. I have yet to figure out what the difference is, but according to the salesmen it is totally worth the 20 euros more.

Unfortunately the Ixus 82 only came in one colour. Blue. I have nothing with blue. But I have to admit it looks kinda nice. In a ‘not me’ kinda way. Am I an idiot that I care about the colour? It should be about quality!!!! I should stop complaining, cause even in blue it is still a very handsome camera.

I haven’t figured out how i can properly use it though. I can’t find how to change any settings. Everything is automatic.. maybe I’m not supposed to change anything. It makes decent pictures though.

You know there’s something wrong if ppl keep a cat in their rabbitcage.

Turns out he’s lethal when he’s not in a cage. Here he is about to attack me!

Something ‘soothing’ to end with :p

Paranoidddd

Just watched Paranoid Park at our cinema. The cinema where I will have my last workday this saturday *sniff*. It will be weird to not work there anymore….. Anywayzzz.. it’s a pretty interesting movie.

It’s about a teenage kid who accidentally gets someone killed in a brutal way and how he deals with that. What’s really cool is that the director (Gus van Sant) casted the entire cast through myspace. It really is the myspace (or hyves for Holland) and youtube generation. Where would we be without those wonderful websites? I wouldn’t be able to post this trailer for instance..

m-th-rf-ck-ng–ssh-l-

I’m listening to a song with above title. Nice one! (It’s by Martha Wainwright btw).

I don’t really know what to write about, but I felt like I should write something as it’s been a while.

I’m looking for a digital compact camera… but I can’t decide which one to buy! I was convinced I wanted a Nikon, but now I’m leaning more towards a Canon Ixus.. I hate choices! The Nikon I want (Nikon s600) has better specs but the body of the camera is UGLY. The Ixus is super pretty! I know that shouldn’t matter, but it so does!

Oh, I have a riddle for you.

The maker doesn’t need it, the buyer doesn’t use it and the user uses it without knowing. What is it?

I bought a dance mat for my Playstation 2. I LOVE Dance dance revolution! It’s addictive. I don’t think my downstairs neighbours think it’s too cool though. Gheh. I tend to stomp when I play that game.

Also bought some new dvd’s (i felt the need to buy something as I couldn’t decide on which camera to buy). I bought Eastern Promises which is an AWESOME movie which everyone should watch. And I bought The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (pff what a name!). I haven’t seen that one yet.. but a western with Brad Pitt in it should be fun ;) .

I better go. I have my first drum-lesson in 20 minutes. I decided to take some lessons. I wonder if I like it! I don’t think I’ll take regular lessons but just one every now and then. To freshen up :D .

See ya.

The queen of pop

Woohoooo! I just bought the best birthday gift ever! I’m gonna take my mom to a Madonna concert for her birthday :D . So.. I hope she doesn’t read this. Gheh.

It’s ridiculous how fast those tickets sell though. The presale started this morning at 10. I started calling at 9:55.. got through at 10:10 and already all the 1 ring seating tickets were taken. I bought 2nd ring now.. which is all the way at the top, but still kind of in the middle of the arena. It’s a huge arena.. it’s our biggest football stadium.. about 60.000 people fit in there I think.

So, I basically bought tickets for seats that are so far up that Madonna will look like an ant. And it cost me 98 euros per ticket :| . lol. Crazy! It’s worth it though!! I really regretted not going to her last concert here, which was just as expensive, so I didn’t want to miss my chance this time.

Normally I would buy standing tickets, but since it’s such a big arena it would probably be a waste of money. Plus, with all the crazy Madonna fanatics, it would be impossible to get up close. Besides.. I’m going with my mom and she definitely prefers to sit.

Wooootttt! I’m so excited :D .

O yeah, the concert isn’t till september 2nd lol. But my mom’s b-day is in October so it makes more sense than if the concert would have been tomorrow ;) .

Extremely weird and Incredibly good

I finally finished the book Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close. I had a hard time reading it at one go, but in the end I really got into it. It’s such a sad story :( . It’s written so lightly though that at some times you kind of forget what it’s really about. Which in this case is a good thing. I think.

Anywayzzzz, I finally finished a book again! I should read more. Up to the next book!

Who is the ugliest?

Murphy and Thako currently entered a competition: Who can make the ugliest face?

You decide. (Thako is on the left and Murphy on the right in all pictures)

Let’s take a better look at that one!

Yikes!!

Double yikes!!

So.. who’s the ugliest?

Happy sunny times!

This weather is making me so happy! It’s been around 23 degrees celcius the last couple of days and I LOVE IT. It’s even going up to 27 degrees this weekend :D (too bad I have to work though :( ).

It’s been a busy week, what with work and sitting in the sun.. and work… and sitting in the sun… and o yeah I went to a concert too! Wednesday I went to Nada Surf in Tivoli in Utrecht. I went with some friends and one of them had been there before (Tivoli that is) so she would lead the way. Well, I tell you this: I’m never following her anywhere again! Tivoli was on the right and she led us straight to the left. Who doesn’t love a 30 minute walk in a heatwave?

Eventually we found it though and the concert was pretty cool. The sound in Tivoli is not so great though, which is a shame. But Nada Surf is a pretty cool band, the crowd was wild too. Cue the video:

Uhm yeah, that’s the stage. And it’s crowdy! During the last song everybody just jumped on stage to ‘have a party’ . Everybody but us that is. We were tired and stood at the back.

Since I watched such few movies the last couple of weeks I tried to get back on track this week. I (re)watched Sin City a couple of days ago, which remains to be one of the best movies ever (imho).

And last night some colleagues and me took over the cinema and watched What Happens in Vegas. Which is an ok comedy. I actually LOL’d a couple of times. I don’t really like Cameron Diaz though. She looks old! How old is she? … google.. google.. google.. she’s 36. Ashton Kutcher is 30. Ashton Kutcher’s real wife (or is she his girlfriend?) is 45 so I guess for him it’s an improvement.

Oh I gotta hurry. I’m late for work (cause i’m actually typing this in the morning.. isn’t that weird?).

Boom boom tjak!

That’s the sound that I’ve been hearing the last couple of days. Cause I’m making it! A friend of mine lend me his electronic drumset to try out. I’ve been thinking of buying one lately as I had to sell my acoustic set since I moved to a flat. But he offered me his to try first, which is really cool of him!! I can keep it for a month or so to see if the neighbours are going to complain and if I even like playing it.

drumset

I LOVE IT!!!!

I definitely think I’m going to buy one in a month or two. The neighbors haven’t complained yet either. I hope they never will. I don’ think they should hear too much of it anyway.. probably a little stomping because of the bass.

Planet Terror

I’ve been on a long movie hiatus, but I finally found the time (and rest in my butt) to watch a movie again. The Grindhouse feature Planet Terror was still lying untouched, which is just not right. Good thing I can say I’ve watched it now.

Planet Terror

Normally I would never watch a zombie movie. Don’t like em. But I couldn’t resist this one. Partly because it’s  a Robert Rodriguez movie and partly because it’s a ‘double feature’ (or was supposed to be anyway) with Death Proof by Quentin Tarantino, which I absolutely loved.

This movie is gross, ridiculous and a lot of fun!!! The gore was a bit too much for my taste, but the characters in it are really cool :D . I liked the ‘grindhouse’ effect too, with the damages to the film and stuff. I thought it would be annoying, but it’s not. It does make me realize that the movies we play at our theater are not so bad after all, cause if movies in the old days had that much damage ours seem crispy new.

Anyway, I enjoyed it. Dont know if I would watch it a second time anytime soon though. It did make me want to watch Death Proof again, which I already watched 2 times. And Sin City.

Btw, if that JT is a representation of the finest bbq in Texas than I don’t ever wanna go there!
