For Renee
I can’t find one of our show, but here ya go.
Concert
As my post of last night might indicate I had a blast last night. I could go into detail about how Anais Mitchell looked so cute when she was playing guitar and kept looking at it with this big smile and amazement at the music she was making. Or how her happy feet kept indicating that she forgot to pee beforehand.
I could also talk about how freakishly funny Hamell on Trial is. With his face solo and funny jokes. I could also warn you that you don’t want to stand too close in front of him, because I’m not kidding you. He has a shower instead of a mouth lol. And it has a steady power too.
Ani DiFranco first came out during the support act by trying to play an instrument that I forgot the name of during a song that Anais Mitchell and Hamell on Trial sang on together. I actually missed her first song because I was buying an Anais Mitchell CD. She signed it for me with ‘to Tessa, yours Anais Mitchell, Amsterdam 08′. How cute.
Ani DiFranco was pretty much cool all through. I do wonder what kind of statement you’re making when you wear a shirt that says ‘cunt.’ though? lol
I made two pictures with my iphone. They’re crap quality but here they are.

Someone was really fast with their media, because I already found a video on youtube of the encore.
Here’s a vid of Anais Mitchell. It’s not from last night though. It’s from the day before in Paris.
Good Times
I just came back from an Ani DiFranco concert and it was F*CKING AWESOME!!! From the moment the support act started (Anais Mitchell and Hamell on Trial) it was just cool as hell.
Will post more tomorrow after my beauty sleep

Chicken anyone?
I thought I’d be nice and buy Murphy a treat. I put aside my own fear and disgust of dead animals and bought him some piece of chicken (or other feathered beasty that now has to do without it’s paws).
He looked petrified when I first showed him…

But didn’t hesitate very long before he devoured it. The carnivore!

Guitar Hero
Anyone that knows me knows that I’m a dork. I love to play games and geek out. One of my favorite games is Guitar Hero!!!
Last year it was pretty much an addiction. It was so bad that I even made a Guitar Hero surprise for my Saint Nicholas present for Kevin.

Unfortunately for my cool factor I rediscovered it again this weekend. I’ve played all the songs in medium and some in hard. But I must be physically challenged because the people that can play Expert are ridiculous!
Ok. That sentence isn’t right. But it’s both true. I’m physically challenged AND they are ridiculous. I almost break my fingers trying to play te games in hard. How on earth do they do this???
INSANE
DORK

Awww, look at that painted wall. Shini, I’m so sorry I made you work so hard and then left it within half a year.
Fresh air
I love it when it’s raining all day and you just happen to go to the park on the moment it’s not pouring for a moment. It always seems like the air is fresher after it has rained.
I made some photos and I just found out that I can play with the colours in aperture. Look at what I did!
Original

Vibrance!!

Ok, it still looks ugly, but look how green the grass is
.

I also tried to snap a cute picture of me and Murphy together. It turns out to be an impossible feat.

Unretained

That thing right there. That has been in my mouth for over 10 years. (Don’t say gross, cause it doesn’t look gross :p.)
Anyway. It WAS in my mouth to keep my teeth from being as crooked as they were before I had a retainer when I was 12.
(of course it never stopped me from eating)
I was supposed to have this thing in my mouth for the rest of my life. But now I broke it! I was chewing on some very yummie liquorish when it got stuck on my wired teeth and when it got off it just took the wire with it. Of course it didn’t take it all off. No. It only came loose for about half. So I had half of that wire hanging around in my mouth. I did the only logical thing. Pull and twist and hurt myself till the whole thing was out. Of course that happened saturday evening. So I had to worry about my teeth moving straight back to their old comfortable position the rest of the weekend before I could finally go to the dentist.
Guess what the dentist did? She actually took away all the glue that was still stuck to my teeth and told me I don’t need the wire anymore. No.. what I need. Is a rubber, condom-like thing.
EHHHH????? Right. I don’t even know what it will look like, but apparently putting back a wire is not an option as my teeth have already moved a bit forward so I will touch the wire with my underteeth and it will keep breaking. So, instead of the wire I get to suck on a rubber-thingy every night to make sure my teeth won’t be crooked again.
I can pick it up tomorrow (so the last couple of nights my teeth had all the freedom to move wherever they want
). I wonder what it tastes like.
I hope it doesn’t make me drool

True Blood
I just started watching this new series called True Blood. It’s pretty damn cool. It’s about vampires living out and about in the human world. It’s created by Alan Ball, who also created Six Feet Under (which is awesome).
Check out the opening credits. It’s super freaky, but very cool and intriguing.
If I Were a Boy
Beyonce released a new single, which is not very interesting at all. But the demo of the song is. It’s written and sung by BC Jean. She only has 4 songs, non released, but you can hear them on her website (which is awesome btw). Check it out at www.bcjean.net.
So… which version do you like better?

Life’s too short
A friend of mine got some bad news today and made me realize once again how fragile life is and how important it is to seize the moment, live today and to not waste life by thinking all good things will come later.
As I sometimes do when I need some comforting words, I searched the net. Of course there are quotes about carpe diem everywhere. But this poem, about taking the time, got my attention.
Time is Short
Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round
Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?
You better slow down
Don’t dance so fast
Time is short
The music won’t last
Do you run through each day on the fly
When you ask “How are you?” do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores running through your head?
You’d better slow down
Don’t dance so fast
Time is short
The music won’t last
Ever told your child, we’ll do it tomorrow
And in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, and let a good friendship die
‘Cause you never had time to call and say “Hi”?
You’d better slow down
Don’t dance so fast
Time is short
The music won’t last
When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift….
Thrown away…
Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

It is so true. And yet I find myself always too busy and never taking the time to enjoy the things I already have. My eye is always on what’s yet to come. Why can’t we enjoy what we have while we have it?
