Correction
After a little argument with my mother I have to admit that the weather wasn’t as awful as my previous post may have implied. It was just awful compared to how the weather in The Netherlands was and compared to what you would expect from Italian weather. The weather was actually quite excellent for the things we were doing (volcano climbing and sightseeing). So, there ya go

There couldn’t have been a sunset if there wasn’t any sun ![]()

Home Sunny Home
After a week of rain and drizzle in Italy I’m back in the sunny Netherlands.
Yah. That doesn’t only sound wrong, it felt wrong too.
But, despite the awful weather we had a reallllllly good time and I wouldn’t mind some clouds and rain if that meant I could go to Italy again right now.
I will update with some photos/stories laterrr!

Leaving for Rome
Can’t wait to see Italy’s most popular city!
And I’ll probably see chipmunk (read: Shini) too! How random is that. We found out this morning that we’ll be in Rome at the same time. She left for Rome this morning and I’m going tomorrow.

I’ll be in Rome for 3 nights and then we’ll go to Sorrento and surroundings for the remaining 4 nights. More info (for the Dutchies) can be found here: Rondreis Rome – Sorrento
See ya in a week!
Hugged by a Polar Bear

Almost eaten by a polar bear would be the better title. Some idiot German jumped into the polar bear cage of a German zoo this weekend. And I’m pretty sure she’s regretting it. She got bit in the be-hind several times.
You think that looks nasty? Then check this next video out. This happened last year in Alaska. That polar bear is huge!!! And the woman: crazy as a bat. I really don’t get people that don’t respect animals and aknowledge that, you know, they can be kind of dangerous. What I also find very.. uhm.. interesting: her thanking God for making the polar bear release her and not the guys distracting the polar bear for her.
For some reason I can’t embed this video so here’s the link: Youtube Vid
Let’s end with some cuteness

Murphy ‘n Sync
I was browsing an old online diary that I kept before I started this site and came upon some really cool photos of Murphy so I thought I’d re-post them here.
Murphy and Thako doing some synchronised walking with 2 other dogs

These were taken on Mach 26, 2007. So he was about 1 year and 4 months old.. you can also see the scar on his ass from when he was bitten by another Ridgeback (not Thako). I can’t believe that was over 2 years ago… how time flies!
Tweets everywhere
As some of you may have noticed I have discovered Twitter. Twitter in combination with the iphone camera is pretty addictive to me. Whenever I see something fun I can take a pic and send it as a tweet right away. I love technology.
But I want to talk about another tweeting thing. A real twittering sparrow flew PANG against my window yesterday. It looked kind of dead on my balcony so I went to get a better look. It wasn’t dead, it was just dizzy. I held it for a while (the birds eyes kept shutting and his head falling to the side) hoping it wouldn’t die on me. But after entertaining me with some jumps and a little poopy on my jeans it gave me a cute ‘thank you so much dear tessa’ look and flew off.

Facebook saves life
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/7983725.stm
Some kid in the UK got on Facebook and told a kid in the US that he planned to commit suicide. She told her mom, mom told the police, the police told a “special agent” and in the end the kids life was saved.
It could just be me, but I find it very weird that the police in the US took this ‘call’ so seriously. Of course it’s great that they saved this kids life. But how much effort did they put into this, while the kid could have just been talking nonsense online. I would think that if every suicide threat that was posted about online caused for immediate search and investigation it would be a 24/7 job for police forces all across the world.
It is pretty amazing though, in this case, that a girl in the US prevented a suicide in the UK without ever leaving her house. The world keeps getting smaller and smaller.

Is it a bowl, is it a cup?

It’s just what the trailer of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button looks like when I have my way with it.
